Problems In Undergraduate Physics Volume II Electricity And Magnetism by S. P. Streklov; I. A. El'stin; S. E. Khaikin 

 This set of four books of problems is based on a translation of a Russian collection which has been in use by students in physics at Moscow State University and the Moscow Physico-Technical In­ stitute for a number of years. Where appropriate, answers and solutions to the problems are given in the second part of each volume. During the course of the translation of these volumes, the authors provided a large list of amendments and additions to their Russian text and these have all been incorporated in this English edition. Many of the additional problems are on topics which have developed during recent years. The standard of the problems is roughly equivalent to an undergraduate degree course in physics at a British university, or at an American university; it varies from the simple to the rather sophisticated. They can be used in conjunction with almost any textbook on physics at the appropriate level.

This collection of about 1200 problems has been compiled for the following three textbooks by the same authors: Fundamentals o f Linear Algebra and Analytical Geometry. Differential and Integral Calculus. Differential Equa­ tions. Multiple Integrals. Series. Theory Functions of a Complex Variable, thus completing a course in higher mathe­matics for engineering students and forming a four-book series entitled “Higher Mathematics”. Academician S. Nikolsky is the author of the two-volume textbook A Course of Mathematical Analysis issued in Eng­lish by Mir Publishers in 1977 and re­ printed in 1981. All the problems are provided with ans­ wers, some of the problems are sup­ plied with hints. The book contains many worked problems. At the beginning of each section refer­ences are given indicating the chapters and sections of the above mentioned books where the corresponding theo­retical material can be found.

RAUL CHAVEZ SARMIENTO A LENDA PERUANA NAS OLIMPÍADAS DE MATEMÁTICA DA IMO-The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is the World Championship Mathematics Competition for High School students -MEDALHA BRONZE,PRATA E OURO-PHD MATHEMATICS HARVARD UNIVERSITY


 Raúl Arturo Chávez Sarmiento (n. en Perú, 24 de octubre de 1997) es un estudiante de matemáticas peruano conocido por ser la segunda persona más joven del mundo en obtener una medalla en la Olimpiada Internacional de Matemática (IMO
),1​ después del matemático australiano Terence Tao. Gracias al apoyo de su familia, Raúl consigue desarrollar su habilidad matemática desde temprana edad.2​ Es así que el año 2009, a la edad de 11 años, después de un proceso selectivo,3​ participa en su primera Olimpiada Internacional de Matemática, ese año desarrollada en Alemania. Allí obtuvo su medalla de bronce, acompañando el buen desempeño de su equipo.1​ Esta participación fue seguida de otras tres, en Kazajistán (2010), Países Bajos (2011) y Argentina (2012) donde obtuvo medallas de plata, oro y plata, respectivamente.4​ En 2011, al obtener su medalla de oro, Raúl ocupó el sexto lugar en la clasificación general, siendo el mejor resultado individual que ha obtenido un peruano en esta competencia hasta el día de hoy. Raúl obtuvo su título de pregrado en la Escuela de Matemática Aplicada de la Fundación Getulio Vargas5​ simultáneamente mientras realizaba sus estudios de maestría en Matemáticas en el Instituto Nacional de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (IMPA).6​ Actualmente está siguiendo el programa de doctorado en Matemáticas de la Universidad de Harvard.

The book was translated from the Russian by George Yankovsky and was first published by Mir Publishers in 1970. There were two reprints one in 1973 and one in 1977. The book here is to the third reprint.

This edition revised and last published in two volumes The first volume dealing with the following topics: Number, Variable, Function, Limit, Continuity of a Function, Derivative and Differential, Certain Theorems on Differentiable Functions, The Curvature of a Curve, Complex Numbers, Polynomials, Functions of Several Variables, Applications of Differential Calculus to Solid Geometry, The Indefinite Integral, The Definite Integral, Mechanical Applications of the Definite Integral. The second volume dealing with the following topics: Differential Equations, Multiple Integrals, Line and Surface Integrals, Series, Fourier Series, The Equations of Mathematical Physics, Operational Calculus and Certain of its Applications, Elements of the Theory of Probability and Mathematical Statistics, Matrices. There are numerous examples and problems in each section of the course many of them demonstrate the ties between mathematics and other senses making the book useful for self study is a textbook for higher technical schools that has gone through several editions in Russian and also has been translated into French and Spanish and Portuguese. The books were translated from the Russian by George Yankovsky and published by Mir in 2 volume format in 1981 as Fourth reprint.
