CHINA National Team
The U.S. team tied for first place with China at the 60th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), which was held in Bath, United Kingdom, July 11-22. The six U.S. team members, Vincent Huang (a returning member from 2017 and 2018), Luke Robitaille, Colin Tang, Edward Wan, Brandon Wang and Daniel Zhu also won gold medals for their individual high scores in the Olympiad, known as the world championship mathematics competition for high school students.

The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is hailed as the "World Cup" in the mathematics competition with the highest honor, highest specification and highest level of competition. The 60th IMO was held in Bath, England, July 10-22, 2019. All the 6 players of the Chinese team won the gold medal, and the team scored 227 points, ranking the first with the United States! This is the first time that the Chinese team has regained the top spot in the world after four years. It is even after eight years. Six players have once again won all the gold, which is a milestone in the history of China's history.

AUTOMATIC CONTROL-CHAPTER 8 -ROOT LOCUS TECHNIQUE 01-INSTRUCTOR-Kwan-Woong Gwak- Sejong University  Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Course Title
Automatic Control  -Instructor  Kwan-Woong Gwak

This course introduces the basic principles of feedback control of dynamic system, related system analysis technics, and the design of the controller satisfying the given dynamic specifications.
To achieve the course goals, system modeling technics describing the dynamic systems into mathematical differential equations, technics (root locus, Nyquist) analyzing the dynamic characteristics (stability, tranqusient response) in both time and frequency domain will be
studied.
Also, PID and lead-lag controller design method that makes the system dynamic characteristics satisfy the required specifications will beinvestigated.

1st Joint Meeting Brazil-France in Mathematics IMPA, Rio de Janeiro, July 15 – 19, 2019

Joint meeting Brazil-France in Mathematics will take place at IMPA, Rio de Janeiro in July 15-19, 2019.

As early as the 1950’s French mathematicians such as Andre Weil and Laurent Schwartz spent long periods visiting the University of Sao Paulo. Mathematical cooperation between the two countries became intense in the 1970’s when brilliant young French mathematicians performed their military service as “coopérants” at IMPA.

Bilateral cooperation has grown substantially over the years, so much so that it is fair to say that each of the countries is now a major scientific partner to the other in the field of Mathematics. The Fields Medal awarded in 2014 to Artur Avila, who holds a dual appointment at IMPA and at the University of Paris, is a great token of this partnership.

The mathematical societies of Brazil (SBM and SBMAC), and France (SMF and SMAI) have decided to bring together mathematicians from the two countries, especially young researchers, to consolidate and renew the cooperation established over the years. The meeting will take place at IMPA, Rio de Janeiro, July 15-19, 2019.
